Short bio

Martina is a PhD student involved in the project EDULIA, Bringing down barriers to children’s healthy eating H2020-MSCA-ITN-2017.  She is secondment at the Sensory Lad of DAGRI.
Her ESR project will establish research-based knowledge on suitable food testing procedures for children, aimed at the development of healthy food products (by the food industry) and at better understanding of children’s’ perception of food (at an academic level). The project will produce age-specific recommendations for collecting data about children and food choice. 3 papers submitted. Martina has a M. Sc. In Food Science - ETHZ Switzerland and worked as Sensory Specialist  at  Lindt & Sprüngli Switzerland.

General Research interests

Her research interests are consumer acceptability, eating motivation, emotions, and descriptive evaluation with practical implication. Sometimes her research involves specific consumer group such as dysphagia or diabete patients.

Aims and activities related to the visit

During her staying at DAGRI Martina will work on implicit method to collect emotional responses to vegetables in children considering also new statistical methods to investigate individual differences working  with Prof. Monteleone; Sara Spinelli and the other staff members of the Sensory Lab.
