Doctorate teaching activity

The teaching provided by the doctorate is divided into compulsory and free courses for a total of 39 CFU, of which 24 and 15 CFU are assigned to compulsory and free courses, respectively. The University Formative Credits (CFU) are a tool to measure the amount of learning work, including individual study, required for students to acquire the knowledge and skills in the training activities provided by the study courses (1CFU= 25h).

The main objective of the educational offer is to provide the PhD student with the basic knowledge necessary to successfully operate in the field of research at international level.

This goal is achieved by implementing the student knowledge of English and statistics and also by providing information on the role of the principal investigator, intellectual property management and the main types of calls for proposalsof the HORIZON 2020 program.

The student preparation is then completed with exercises on the drafting of a scientific article on the basis of the selected journal, as well as a research project selected among the ones included in the HORIZON 2020 program.

These courses are held by the members of the College of Teachers and by other university professors or researchers with a high international qualification, and are considered compulsory teachings.

The Compulsory teachings are part of the first year of the Doctorate program, beginning in early November and ending, with the exception of courses on Intellectual Property and English, at the end of February in order to allow PhD students to start the field experimental activities. with the beginning of cultivation activities.

In case of a doctorate in joint supervision with a non-Italian European university the Ph.D. student is required to attend the compulsory courses provided for by the two Doctorate programs and the time spent at the two facilities may reach a maximum of 18 months.

The PhD student completes his/her training for a total of 15 credits, defined as free credits, selecting between complementary skills, university courses or other doctorate programs, or by participating in national and international training events such as meetings, workshops, summer and/or winter schools and seminars.
